    «Мавка. Лісова пісня» — створено за мотивами «Лісової пісні» Лесі Українки та адаптовано під жанр сімейної анімації.

    THE DOCUMENTARY «DIARY OF THE BRIDE OF CHRIST», CREATED WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE UKRAINIAN STATE FILM AGENCY WILL SCREEN AT THE FRANCO-UKRAINIEN YOUNG FILM FESTIVAL «MICT» ON DECEMBER 2ND.

    The documentary film «Diary of the Bride of Christ», created with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency will be screened at the Franco-Ukrainian Young Film Festival «MICT» on December 2nd.

    In «Diary of the Bride of Christ», the film’s director Marta Smerechynska faces her fears and plunges into the reality of her sister Nastia, a Greek Catholic nun, in the Convent of the Brides of Christ in Western Ukraine, to re-examine the world in which they both grew up. The relationship between Marta and Nastia, who has given up everything worldly to become part of the religious world, also reflects the experiences of other families and their daughters who have joined a closed monastic community. Marta discusses her feelings with other nuns and interviews them, while the other nuns see Marta as a connection to their past and families. The director seeks to find an answer to the question of why young girls decide to follow the centuries-old church by choosing the path of nuns.

    The film was produced by Digital Religion LLC with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The producers are Vitaliy Sheremetyev and Natalia Libet.

    The Franco-Ukrainian Young Film Festival «MICT» will take place from November 29 to December 2, 2023.

    The Franco-Ukrainien Young Film Festival «MICT» is an annual festival held in Ukraine and France. This year’s festival aims to support young Ukrainian filmmakers and their work and also to popularize Ukrainian cinema with further development of co-production and cultural relations. The festival is a unique opportunity to support the development of young Ukrainian cinema during the war.

    This year, the festival celebrates its fifth anniversary and for the first time will be held in a mixed format of online and offline events. The festival’s competition and non-competition program focuses on contemporary Ukrainian fiction and documentary short films created by young Ukrainian filmmakers.

    The festival is organized by the International Association for the Development and Support of Ukrainian Culture, in partnership with the Association de Développement Personnel Franco-Ukrainienne, the French Institute in Ukraine, the French Embassy in Ukraine, Alliances Françaises en Ukraine, CNC, UNIFRANCE, TorinoFilmLab | Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino’s, I Am Tomorrow International Film Festival, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, State Film Agency of Ukraine, Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, Odesa Film Office, Cultural Diplomacy, Odesa Film Studio, and with the support of the City Hall of Odesa, the City Hall of Marseille, the International Charitable Foundation «Ukrainian and European Initiatives», the Charitable Foundation «Doors» and the National Women’s Association of Ukrainian Cinema and Film.

    THE 27TH TALLINN BLACK NIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL ENDED ON NOVEMBER 19TH

    The world premieres of two Ukrainian films created with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency hosted the international PÖFF | Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival on November 9th.

    The feature-length poetic drama «Oxygen Station» directed by Ivan Tymchenko was presented in the main competition program.

    The film is based on real events from the life of Soviet dissident Mustafa Dzhemilev.  The film is based on the incredible story of the meeting between Mustafa and his future wife Safinar. For the sake of the meeting, the characters overcome thousands of kilometers, their own fears and obstacles of the totalitarian system.

    The world premiere of the comedy «Lessons of Tolerance» directed by Arkady Nepytaliuk took place in the Critics’ Choice section.

    According to the film’s plot – an ordinary Ukrainian family agreed to participate in the European integration program Lessons of Tolerance to cope with financial difficulties. But among other challenges, they are also worried about what their neighbors will say.

    Also, this year at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival were presented films, created with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency:

    • The film «Forever – Forever» by Anna Buryachkova, Estonian premiere in the program «Best of Festivals»

    «Forever – Forever» is a story about survival and love at the same time, about shame but also carefree, about freedom and dependence on your body. It’s about desperation, tenderness, pain, pleasure, and the search for yourself and the right decisions. It’s also a film about the youth of those who are now over 30, those who have become the most passionate and dedicated fighters for freedom in modern times.

    • The film «Stepne» by Maryna Vroda, Estonian premiere in the program «Best of Festivals»

    «Stepne» is the story of Anatoliy, a man who comes back home to take care of his dying mother. Mother’s death, meeting with his brother and a woman he loves make him reflect on the life he has lived and the decisions he has made along the way. Just before her death, the mother tells Anatoliy about a treasure that she hid in the barn.

    • The film «We will not fade away» by Alisa Kovalenko, Estonian premiere in the programs «Doc@Just» and «Children’s Rights Program»

    The film tells the story of teenagers growing up in eastern Ukraine amidst the war and their extraordinary journey to the peaks of the Himalayan Mountains. Despite the grim reality around them, Andriy, Ruslan, Ilya, Lisa and Lera dream, seek adventure, protest and fight against the dullness and boredom. While the world around them is falling apart, mines are closing, and the threat of war escalation is growing, they do not give up and try to follow their dreams.

    This year Ukrainian films were presented at the 27th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival:

    • The film «Eastern Front» by Vitaliy Manskiy and Yevhen TitarenkoEstonian premiere in the program «Baltic Film Competition»

    «Eastern Front» is a story filmed from February 24, 2022 to September 2022. The heroes are ordinary people who have gone to defend their country not for the first time. But besides the war, the film depicts the home front, where their families live.

    • The film «20 Days in Mariupol» by Mstyslav Chernov – Estonian premiere in the program «Doc@PÖFF»

    «20 Days in Mariupol» is a documentary film by Ukrainian military correspondent and writer, AP videographer Mstyslav Chernov about the siege of Mariupol in February – March 2022 during the full-scale Russian invasion.

    The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Pimedate Ööde filmifestival, PÖFF) was first held in 1997. Since 2014, PÖFF has been one of the 15 top-level film festivals accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).

    The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival together with IndustryTallinn & Baltic Event and its two sub-festivals Just Film and PÖFF Shorts has become one of the largest film festivals in Northern Europe and the most active regional industry platform. The festival is an important meeting place for a rapidly growing number of industry professionals from all over the world.

    The 27th festival took place from November 3 to 19. The industry platform of the festival, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, took place from November 13 to 17.

    The film «Golden Leggings» by Arkadii Nepytaliuk won the Best Live Action at the 39th INTERFILM – International Short Film Festival Berlin!

    According to the film’s plot, life has stopped between the past and the future, and in this time vacuum, the camp’s inhabitants do not even realize that the country and their fates will change forever during the three days of the Golden Leggings.

    August 19, 1991. Life in the children’s and youth camp near Zaporizhzhia is in full swing: 14-year-old Andrii steals gifts for Iryna to express his feelings and runs away from a policeman. The tutor Taras is in love with the director, Halyna, but she is not in the mood for him right now. The head of the camp and former dissident Petrovych brings the news: there are demonstrations in Moscow, and Swan Lake has been on TV since the morning.

    Iryna Mak («To Catch the Kaidash», «Numbers») and Oleg Stefan («Hutsulka Ksenya», «The Rising Hawk») have played the main roles in «Golden Leggings».

    The forum CARTOON Business 2023 has started in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, where Iryna Kostyuk, producer of the «Mavka» animated film, and Tetyana Ruban, CEO of the licensing agency Nerd agency (FILM.UA Group), shared the secret of the cartoon’s global success and presented a multilingual trailer with characters speaking the languages of the countries where the animated film was released.

    Щороку в четверту суботу листопада Україна вшановує пам’ять жертв Голодомору 1932–1933 років і масових штучних голодів 1921–1923 і 1946–1947 років.

    День пам’яті жертв голодоморів у цьому році припадає на 25 листопада.

    Українці вдруге вшановуватимуть жертв сталінського геноциду в умовах повномасштабної війни, яка супроводжується геноцидними діями росії проти українців.

    Українці пройшли через дуже страшні речі. І попри все зберегли здатність не підкорюватися та свою волелюбність. Нас не зламати. Наш вогонь не згасне. Ми знову переможемо!
